I received a small badge in the post today celebrating 20 years of baby massage IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage) UK. It may not seem like a big deal but this little thing is especially meaningful to me, as I was one of the very first to train with IAIM back in the day and will be celebrating my own twentieth anniversary as a baby massage instructor with them later this year!

Baby Massage with IAIM

I have taught over a thousand parents and their babies since qualifying as well as massaging my own two children so it has been a very important and special part of my life. These parents, babies and the IAIM were also the inspiration behind the development of Nom Nom skincare.

Baby Massage with IAIM

Through my classes and nutritional therapy work I witnessed many babies experiencing skin problems and also realised that although parents wanted a natural choice in skincare, they were confused about what to use on their baby’s skin. I followed advice from the IAIM regarding suitable oils for babies and their recommendation that “babies be massaged with a high quality, preferably organic, unscented, cold pressed vegetable oil”. Specialist certified infant massage instructor and neonatal care expert Cherry Bond also brought to our attention concerns regarding oleic fatty acids, including the results of a study regarding olive oil and it’s potential to adversely affect an infant’s immature skin barrier. You can read more in my blog post Time for an Oil Change. Finding it difficult to recommend a range that fulfilled all these criteria I was motivated to create my own and Nom Nom was born.

I am as passionate today as I was twenty years ago about the benefits of baby massage and as keen as ever to spread the word. You can see my contribution in Mother and Baby Magazine and learn more about Baby Massage in my How to series starting with How to get ready for Baby Massage

I also offer trade sizes of baby oil for baby massage instructors from IAIM or other training schools. You can find out more on the NOMinee page and please do get in touch to try a sample.

To celebrate twenty years of baby massage I am offering a 20% discount* on Nom Nom Organic Baby Mini Set. Try gentle and effective Nom Nom on your little one or treat a friend or family’s new arrival. Find out more HERE and use code 20for20 at checkout.
